Lack of Trust

Trust is not a “soft” leadership issue. It is mission-critical.

In my article for Businessing Magazine, “Lack of Trust Is the Greatest Inhibitor to Mission Fulfillment,” I explore how distrust can become the treacherous river that keeps organizations from reaching their intended destination.

Every interaction, decision, system, and leadership behavior either strengthens or weakens trust. And when trust is lacking, the consequences are real: diminished morale, weaker retention, increased operational costs, strained stakeholder relationships, and reduced mission effectiveness.

The good news? Trust can be intentionally built.

Trusted leadership functions much like a suspension bridge: foundation, substructure, bearings, girders, superstructure, deck, and suspension cables all working together to carry people safely from where they are to where they need to be.

For school leaders, nonprofit leaders, ministry leaders, and organizational executives alike, the question is not whether trust matters. The question is whether we are intentionally building the bridge.
