Trusted Leadership Is Not Just Good Practice, It Is Faithful Stewardship

Dr. Travis understands Christian school leadership from the inside, the weight of mission, the dynamics of faith-integrated culture, and the unique challenges of leading schools where relationships are both professional and deeply personal.

The Christian school context

Christian Schools Need More Than Secular Leadership Models

The TrustED® framework applies across all school contexts, but it was born from Dr. Travis’s doctoral dissertation, The Trusted School Leader: Gaining Better Results, Deeper Stakeholder Relationships, and Greater Stability, developed specifically for Christian schools at Louisiana Baptist University in 2016. In Christian schools, the stakes of trust are uniquely high. When trust breaks down, it does not merely affect performance or operations; it reaches into the school’s mission, community life, spiritual culture, and long-term stability.

Held to a higher standard, with fewer frameworks to draw from

Christian school leaders are expected to embody servant leadership, model relational integrity, and steward a faith mission, while also navigating board governance, faculty culture, parent expectations, accreditation demands, and daily operational pressures. Most leadership training was not built for this intersection.

Faculty are also members of the faith community

In Christian schools, the people you lead are often also your church community, your co-worshippers, and sometimes personal friends. When trust breaks down, it does not stay at school. It ripples into relationships, families, and the broader community in ways that may take years to repair.

Board-administration alignment is an ongoing challenge

Christian school boards are often composed of committed volunteers with deep passion for the mission but varying experience in governance. The head-board relationship requires a specific kind of trust, built deliberately, maintained consistently, and protected proactively.

When trust is strong, Christian schools become extraordinary

A Christian school with high leadership trust does not just perform better, it becomes a community where faculty flourish, students experience genuine belonging, families invest more deeply, and the school's mission becomes visible in everything it does. That is worth building intentionally.

THE TrustED® APPROACH FOR CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS

Faith Is Not Added On,  It Is Foundational

How Faith Integrates with the Framework

The TrustED® framework was developed by a leader with firsthand experience in Christian schools, not by someone observing them from a distance.

For Christian school communities, Dr. Travis integrates the spiritual and relational dimensions of leadership trust naturally throughout his work. The six components of the TrustED® framework map directly onto values that Christian school leaders already hold, they simply give them a measurable, practical structure for living those values out in leadership.

The story behind the expertise

Tested Across Cultures, Proven in Complexity

Alliance Academy International · Quito, Ecuador

Leading a Christian school of 30+ nationalities taught Dr. Travis that trust is the only currency that works across every culture

During his years at Alliance Academy International in Quito, Ecuador,  a Christian school serving a community of more than 30 nationalities , Dr. Travis encountered the full complexity of faith-integrated leadership: diverse cultural expectations, missionary families navigating displacement, a board navigating international governance, and a faculty united by faith but divided by background. Every assumption about how trust is built, communicated, and sustained had to be examined and rebuilt. That experience became one of the most formative influences on the TrustED® framework, and one of the reasons the framework works as effectively in Seoul and Nairobi as it does in Nashville and Phoenix.

A specialized focus

Christian school board-administration alignment

A Critical and Often Underserved Area

When the board and head are not aligned, the whole school feels it

Christian school boards are typically composed of deeply committed volunteers,  people with great passion for the mission but varying experience in governance. The head-board relationship is one of the most important, and most fragile, trust relationships in any Christian school. Dr. Travis works specifically with heads and boards to build the kind of trust that produces healthy governance, clear boundaries, mutual respect, and shared mission ownership. -Clarifying roles and governance boundaries -Aligning around mission, vision, and strategic priorities -Strengthening board culture and meeting effectiveness -Building trust between the head and board chair -Navigating board transitions and leadership changes -Repairing trust after conflict or organizational stress
